How to Clean a Tempur-Pedic Mattress

Tempur-Pedic mattresses are among the most hard-wearing memory foam products on the market. However, you’ll need to carry out occasional cleaning and maintenance to ensure your Tempur mattress performs well and lasts for as long as possible. Thankfully, taking care of your Tempur mattress is fairly effortless. 

Deep Clean

To give your memory foam mattress a deep clean, start by removing the mattress cover itself. Mattress pads and covers should be cleaned regularly as a rule, but you’ll want to keep on top of any unsightly stains and spills as and when they occur.

These covers are all designed to be cleaned in washing machines. However, it’s always best to consult the washing instructions on the label when laundering covers for the first time. Generally speaking, keep washing temperatures low and avoid using any harsh detergents or cleaning chemicals. When it comes to drying a freshly laundered cover, avoid tumble dryers. A few hours pegged to a washing line is all that’s needed. 

Freshening UP

Freshening up the mattress itself requires a more delicate touch. Baking soda is an effective cleaning agent to tackle any persistent odors. Even though baking soda won’t damage your mattress, apply it sparingly. You’re aiming to sprinkle the surface with a light layer.

Once applied, leave the baking soda to soak up smells and moisture for around an hour. You can then remove the residue by running a vacuum over the mattress. You don’t want to be using too much suction power at this point. A handheld vacuum cleaner is the best option for gathering baking soda residue. If you must use a standard vacuum, make sure you’re using an upholstery attachment or operating your hoover on a lower power setting if possible. 

How to clean pee out of a mattress?

If you have a child who wets the bed, then you know how difficult it can be to clean pee out of a mattress. 

Not only does the smell tend to linger, but it can also be difficult to get rid of all the moisture.

Next, you will need to add vinegar to a spray bottle and mist the area. Finally, you will need to use a brush to scrub the dried urine stains.

Once you have removed the urine stains, it is important to prevent your child from wetting the bed in the first place. There are several different options available, but one of the most effective is to use a bedwetting alarm. 

These devices are designed to wake your child up when they start to urinate, which will help them learn to control their bladder.

If you are not able to remove the urine stains or prevent your child from wetting the bed, then you may need to consider buying a new mattress. 

This is usually a last resort, but it may be necessary if the stains and odors are too difficult to remove. When buying a new mattress, be sure to choose one that is specifically designed for children who wet the bed.
